Location of Magban Union
Rangamati Sadar upazila's Magnaban Union is surrounded by Karnaphuli River. This Karnafuli river is the result of the Kaptai hydroelectric power project. Kaptai Karnaphuli river originating in river Kadalang, Maini, Chenggi, Raikhang river river in Badowaula of Karnaphuli river. In the sixties, the construction of the Kaptai dam on the river Karnaphuli by the then Pakistan government created the artificial lake of Kaptai as a huge reservoir of water resources.
